What is Commercial Property Coverage?

A Commercial Property Insurance policy covers an insured’s physical assets from fire, explosions, burst pipes, theft, vandalism, and all other covered perils. Typically, earthquakes and floods are excluded perils. This policy covers the building, as well as everything inside and just outside of it. Covered assets can include but are not limited to: computers, exterior signs, fencing, inventory, furniture, and documents.

Additional coverages, such as Builder’s Risk and Equipment Breakdown coverage can be included on this policy. Builder’s Risk coverage covers against equipment and materials that suffer loss during construction. Equipment Breakdown covers against electrical, electronic, or pressurized equipment breakdown. Equipment Breakdown coverage is also known as Boiler and Machinery Insurance.
