What is Group Health Coverage?

Group health insurance plans are the most cost effective way for a business to provide low cost health insurance for its employees. Premiums rates for group health policies are typically lower than individual policies, as the risk is spread across the group. Under federal law, small employers are guaranteed group coverage should they choose to purchase it, regardless of the employees’ health status. A “small employer” is defined as a business with 2 to 50 full-time employees.
